What happens if the Monday, April 6, vote fails?

In the words of actor Ed Harris in the movie Apollo 13: "Failure is not an option." If the vote on April 6 fails, this process stops, we don't vote on it on May 11, we lose the 1,000,000.00 federal grant, we lose all the money already paid out.


- We think everyone agrees that the present building will eventually be condemed.


- We all should agree that building costs are not going to go down.


- After multiple designs over the last decade the building is as streamlined as it is ever going to be.


- We are forced to pay Massachusetts prevailing wage which is not going to go down.


- We are losing volunteer FF and EMS personnel due to poor working conditions.


- We are losing good police officers in part because of poor working conditions.


- Regionalization or mutual aid is not a viable option. (Click for more info.)


- We face potential lawsuits for any injuries, costs would be borne by the taxpayers. (Click for more info.)


- Our homeowner's insurance rates will likely rise. (Click for more info.)





In short, we need to stop kicking this can down the road, it only gets more expensive with every "kick" and the liabilty and insurance risks continue to rise every day.
